Customizing Windows 11’s default browser is unnecessarily complicated. You have to take many steps for that and sometimes Microsoft automatically rolls back those steps.
Many users of the operating system complain about this, forcing Microsoft to act. As a result, it is now possible to change the default browser for the system with a single click.
One came out this week small cumulative update for Windows 11, which fixes a large number of software errors. But the update also brings the option with which you can quickly and easily adjust your browser as the default.
Change default browser on Windows 11
Now when you go to the Settings application of Windows 11 and look up the heading for the default applications, you can indicate with a single click that you prefer to use a browser other than Microsoft Edge.
After that, you don’t have to confirm that choice ten more times, because Edge is set as the default option for opening certain files. If all is well, the window should open automatically in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Brave or any other browser of your choice.
Note that not all file formats are immediately included in Windows 11. Some formats, such as .pdf, .shtml, .svg, .ftp, and more still open by default in Edge. Also, links from Widgets open in Edge.
