We are familiar with all the major tech companies, but we can also include this tractor manufacturer in this list in the future.
Google, Apple, Samsung, we all know them. You may have seen John Deere passing by with an impressive tractor. It might surprise you, but this company is a tech company of the future.
Tractor manufacturer is tech company of the future
John Deere (JD) is not just any company, it has a long history. It has been around for 200 years now. The company is very well known in the agricultural sector. Sure, John Deere still makes a lot of agricultural vehicles, but is increasingly focusing as an agricultural technology company. Analysts expect it to be a full-fledged artificial intelligence company within 15 years.
It is not the case that the company will start with this from now on. It has invested heavily in robotics and autonomy for decades. In the late 1990s, the company acquired GPS startup NavCon in hopes of building satellite-guided guidance systems for tractors. Within a few years, JD was able to develop a system that was accurate to within a few centimeters – previous GPS systems could be several meters off.
Artificial intelligence
Automation has become commonplace at the company. It already has many tractors, vehicles and other smart equipment that provides functions. From hands-free driver assistance to autonomous weed identification and eradication.
Also worked the company along with NASA. This to develop the first internet-based GPS tracking system. In other words, the path to modern autonomous vehicles was seeded and worked on by John Deer tractors and NASA decades ago. According to JD, the future is automation, allowing machines to deliver superhuman performance. And autonomy, making vehicles driverless.
