FFP2 masks “Patricle filtering half mask” labeled “Biomass Graphene” must no longer be used, alert The National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM). They would indeed contain a chemical substance harmful to health. Mediapart conducted an investigation and revealed that these masks would have been used by several thousand medical personnel before the information was released.
There would be a total of nearly 17 million problem parts, recalled to be destroyed. But there would exist in all 60 million masks with this potentially harmful chemical substance. It’s about graphenea biocide, or a product that destroys (or at least renders harmless) viruses in particular.
Potential effects on embryos
In general, biocides are governed by European regulations, emphasizes ANSES. In an article published in 2016, the Agency mentioned: “The reported effects are a source of concern for human health, in particular due to suspected teratogenic effects“, or likely to cause malformations in children exposed during gestation.
These masks are not intended for the general public and have been sent to health personnel in various types of structures. They would have been part of a massive order dated April 2020, when France was trying to deal with the shortage of masks, just before the deconfinement, underlines Mediapart.
