Almost a year after its official presentation to the public, the new Peugeot emblem still only equips the new 308. Its dimensions have drastically increased for the occasion and not for aesthetic purposes alone. It hides a string of scientific processes to integrate a radar.
Kia, Renault, Dacia… so many manufacturers who have decided to change their logos in 2021. These changes, not always appreciated, are nevertheless essential to the life of a competitive company. Peugeot understood this well and decided to radically change its visual identity. Finished therefore the chrome and the body of the lion in three dimensions. The current logo is part of the “flat design” trend and chooses black and white. The now large animal head can, for example, be displayed on the front fenders for high finishes. This reinforces this move upmarket that the brand has wanted for years. But the coat of arms above all serves the technological cause by integrating perfectly into the grille.

Combine the useful and the pleasant
The emblem that interests us is only present on the Allure and GT finishes of the latest 308. And for good reason, it covers a radar that we cannot see. An option unavailable on the first Active Pack trim level of the compact.

In short, Peugeot has set itself a real technical challenge. The goal was to reproduce this new logo with a metallic and pretty look, while hiding the technology, without disturbing its proper functioning. The thickness of the surface of the Lion is thus constant and none of its components contain metallic particles. The only possibility was then to use indium, a naturally chrome alloy with properties that did not disturb the waves. Once the laser scratching has been carried out and then the protective varnish applied, it is impossible to tell the difference between the two logos offered on the compact.
New driving aids available

This work enables Peugeot to offer more features for semi-autonomous driving. The Drive Assist 2.0 package now combines the radar of the adaptive cruise control with divided lanes and the Stop and Go function. Here is the list of additional improvements, among others:
- Adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go function – associated with the EAT8 automatic gearbox – with adjustable inter-vehicle distance setpoint.
- Adaptive cruise control with 30 km/h function – associated with the manual gearbox – with adjustable inter-vehicle distance setpoint.
- Automatic emergency braking, which detects pedestrians and cyclists day and night from 7 km/h up to 140 km/h depending on the version, and alerts the driver in the event of a risk of collision.
- Semi-automatic lane change: from 70 km/h and up to 180 km/h, it prompts the driver to overtake the vehicle in front, then offers to fold over.
- Advance speed recommendation: the system prompts the driver to adapt their speed (acceleration or deceleration) according to the speed limit signs.
