According to an update from the authorities, the mask will no longer be compulsory in schools in 12 new departments from Monday, October 18. The mask will no longer be compulsory in schools in 12 new departments
On the occasion of an update published this Thursday, October 14, 2021, the government unveiled a new list of departments concerned by the lifting of the wearing of masks at school. As a reminder, the lifting of this restriction is made possible when the incidence rate of a department remains below the threshold of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants as announced by Gabriel Attal on September 22. From Monday, October 18, there are therefore twelve additional territories that will no longer be subject to the wearing of the compulsory mask in schools, namely:
- Ain,
- Ariège,
- the Charente,
- the Dear,
- the Drôme,
- the Gard,
- the Herault,
- the Moselle,
- the Haut-Rhin,
- the Var,
- Upper Vienna,
- Seine-et-Marne.
In total, wearing a mask at school is no longer compulsory in 79 French departments, listed below: Aisne, Allier, Hautes-Alpes, Ardennes, Aube, Aveyron, Calvados, Cantal, Charente-Maritime, Corrèze , Haute-Corse, Côte-d’Or, Côtes-d’Armor, Creuse, Deux-Sèvres, Dordogne, Doubs, Eure, Eure-et-Loir, Finistère, Haute-Garonne, Gers, Gironde, Ille-et-Vilaine , Indre, Indre-et-Loire, Isère, Landes, Loir-et-Cher, Loire, Haute-Loire, Loire-Atlantique, Loiret, Lot- Lot-et-Garonne, Lozère, Maine-et-Loire, Manche, Marne , Haute-Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Morbihan, Nièvre, Nord, Oise, Orne, Pas-de-Calais, Puy-de-Dôme, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Pyrénées-Orientales, Bas-Rhin , Saône-et-Loire, Haute-Saône, Sarthe, Savoie, Seine-Maritime, Somme, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne, Territoire de Belfort, Vendée, Vienne, Vosges, Yonne, Reunion, Mayotte.

Among them, a new department appears there; it is about Lozère which had however lifted the obligation to wear a mask at school on October 4. Indeed, the incidence rate in this department has since increased and now reaches 105 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
