Scots who wear a kilt with nothing underneath are said to be more fertile than men with tight pants and briefs. Their sperm kept cool would be of better quality.
Is wearing a kilt the new remedy for the loss of male fertility? According to the results of a study conducted by researchers at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Scots who wear a kilt with nothing underneath are more fertile than those wearing tight pants and briefs. Published in the latest issue of the Scottish Medical Journal, this analysis supports what male fertility specialists have been saying since the 1980s that sticky underwear is detrimental to the quality of men’s sperm.
At the origin of this research, Dr Erwin Kompanje explains that if the traditional Scottish garment is worn without anything underneath, the conditions are all the more favorable for the production of sperm, because the air circulates better. Spermatogenesis is indeed more efficient at a temperature of 34 ° C. However, tight-fitting briefs increase the temperature inside the testicles by 3.5 ° C and thus slow down sperm production, thereby making sperm less mobile.
To support his thesis, the Dutch scientist also claims that the temperature of the scrotum is lower when a man is standing, completely naked. Wearing a kilt would therefore improve the quality of his sperm. Finally, the researcher goes even further, asserting that the decline in Scottish fertility observed over the past 50 years is due to the fact that men very rarely wear this typically Scottish skirt.
Finally, “wearing a kilt would also allow a man to be more attentive to his body, and to feel more virility and freedom, without forgetting that the skirt would be a weapon of mass seduction”, concludes the researcher. In the end, the doctor strongly recommends the wearing of the kilt and the permanent abandonment of the underwear.
