Volvo simplifies the range of the XC40, its compact SUV launched in October 2019. It now consists of four trim levels and seven different engines (gasoline, light hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric). The entrance ticket starts from € 31,100.
The Volvo XC40 range is getting smaller in 2022! The Swedish manufacturer has reduced the number of finishes thus passing from six to four levels. The catalog of available engines remains the same. On the price side, some changes should be noted.
Less finishes, new names
Prices for petrol and hybrid versions are on the rise. The base price is € 31,100 (+ € 700).
Volvo is cleaning up the range of its compact SUV and renaming all the finishes. The old Momentum Essentiel finish is renamed Essential. The Start version, offered for an additional € 3,850, is positioned like the 2e level instead of Momentum and Business Registration. Above, the Inscription and R-Design versions take their reverence in favor of a single level called “Plus” that the manufacturer declines in two atmospheres: Chrome and Dark (without distinction of price). A specificity that can also be found in the new top-of-the-range livery, called Ultimate. It remains to know the progress of the equipment that Volvo has not yet communicated.

Gasoline, hybrid or 100% electric
The Volvo XC40 offers a choice of seven engines:
- Petrol 129 hp (T2)
- Petrol Micro-Hybrid 163 hp (B3) or 197 hp (B4)
- Plug-in hybrid 211 hp (Recharge T4) or 260 hp (Recharge T5)
- Electric 231 hp (Recharge) or 408 hp (Recharge Twin)
Volvo XC40 price (January 2022)
On the price side, the gasoline and hybrid models recorded an increase. Count € 31,100 for an entry-level XC40, or € 850 more. The most chic version is priced at € 56,500, or € 700 more. Good news for the electric variants, the prices have been revised downwards. The entrance ticket is € 46,800, or € 1,000 less. Note that thanks to discounts granted by dealers, the entry-level XC40 can benefit from the most advantageous ecological bonus, i.e. € 6,000 if the vehicle is invoiced by September 30, 2022 at the latest.
