
Have you ever eaten mussels the Flemish way? That’s how you do that!
Ingredients

2 kilos of mussels
- 1 leek

1 onion
- 3 carrots
- 1 bunch of celery leaves
- 20 grams of butter
- ½ teaspoon thyme
- 1 bottle of wheat beer (à 30 cl)
Preparation
- Clean the mussels.
- Wash the leeks and cut into rings. Peel and chop the onion. Clean the carrots and cut into slices. Clean the celery and chop coarsely.
- Heat the butter in the mussel pan. Fry the leek, onion, carrots and celery in it for about 2 minutes. Add the mussels, thyme and pepper to taste. Pour over the beer and put the lid on the pan. Cook the mussels for about 7 minutes until all the shells are open.
- Shake the pan once in a while. Serve with a fresh green salad and fries or baguette
