Priority people, opening to all adults in the event of available slots, advanced vaccination of the over 50s and 16-17 year olds at very high risk… Why does Doctor tell you all about what is changing in the organization of the vaccination.
- From May 10, everyone over 50 is eligible.
- From May 12, all adults can register the day before for the next day in case of available doses and slots.
- From June 15, vaccination is open to all adults.
It’s a real boost that was given this Thursday, May 6. As he inaugurated the first vaccinodrome in Paris, in hall 5 of the Porte de Versailles exhibition center, Emmanuel Macron declared that from Wednesday May 12, vaccination will be open “no age limit” when there are still doses and slots available. Earlier this Thursday, the General Directorate of Health (DGS) had announced that minors aged 16 and 17 suffering from certain serious illnesses could be vaccinated as of this day. Another announcement: people over 50 will have priority from May 10, instead of May 15.
To see clearly, here is how to organize vaccination with these new rules.
The calendar
Today. The over 55s remain the priority audience, regardless of comorbidities. Adults of all ages with comorbidities can also be vaccinated since Saturday 1er may. This represents approximately 4 million people. Since today, minors aged 16 and 17 who suffer from some diseases who put them at very high risk for Covid-19 can also receive an injection. It includes in particular cancers undergoing treatment, severe chronic kidney disease, organ transplants, cystic fibrosis, trisomy 21 or certain rare diseases. Finally, 16-17 year olds close to immunocompromised people are also given priority.
From May 10. Those over 50 will be able to get vaccinated as a priority five days ahead of the initial schedule. “From Monday 10, vaccinations will begin for our fellow citizens who are over 50, so we will lower the age of access to vaccines”said Emmanuel Macron, adding that appointments could be made from Friday.

From May 12. In case of doses and slots available the day before for the next day, all adults can be vaccinated. “From Wednesday 12, you will be able to watch the doses that are available the day before on the Doctolib site, regardless of your age, and if there are doses available the next day where you are, and therefore appointments that are not made, they will be open without age limit”affirmed the President of the Republic.
No slot should be lost.
From May 12, appointments that have not found takers 24 hours before will be open to all adult volunteers, unconditionally.https://t.co/H6mJCiN6iG—Emmanuel Macron (@EmmanuelMacron) May 6, 2021
From June 15. Vaccination will be open to anyone over the age of 18, unconditionally. The possibility of extending to minors over 12 is currently being studied by the European regulator and should be authorized next week in the United States.
You are 18 years or older: go on June 15 to get vaccinated.

Vaccines
Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna. These messenger RNA vaccines are recommended for everyone. A new study, the largest carried out in real life, confirms the great effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine. Published May 5 in The Lancet, she argues that seven days after the second dose, it protects 95.3% against infections, 97.2% against hospitalizations and 96.7% against death. However, they drop significantly when people have received only one of the two doses: 57.7% against infection, 75.7% against hospitalizations and 77% against deaths among those over 16 years old. On April 30, the National Medicines Agency noted 5 cases of myocarditis in patients who had received an injection of the Pfizer-BioNtech product without any direct link between the two being proven for the moment.
AstraZeneca or Janssen. They are currently reserved for people aged 55, according to the recommendations of the High Authority for Health. The latter is studying, at the request of the government, the possibility of extending the possibility for any person under the age of 55 who wishes to be able to be vaccinated with this product.
