From June 9, vaccinated European foreigners will be able to enter France without a PCR test, the French Minister for Transport announced on Friday. However, the vaccination must be complete for at least 14 days on the date of travel.
“We are announcing that as of June 9, […], Europeans who are vaccinated will be able to come to France without a PCR test “, said on Friday, the Minister Delegate for Transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, on the TV set of CNews. By vaccinated, the government agrees that these are people who have carried out a full vaccination for at least 14 days on the date of travel. The countries are classified into three distinct zones and a reception system for foreign travelers will be put in place from June 9. Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Secretary of State for Tourism and French People Abroad, unveiled it this morning on RMC.
Green zone
The countries in the green zone are those of the European Union, but also countries such as Australia, South Korea, Japan, Lebanon, New Zealand, Singapore or Israel, which are eligible. For travelers who do not wish to be vaccinated “You will be asked for a PCR test or an antigen test of less than 72 hours”, said Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne.
Orange zone
This zone concerns countries “Where the circulation of the virus still exists even if the situation is under control and in which there are no worrying variants”, specifies the Secretary of State. In other words, this area concerns the vast majority of countries in the world. The United States and the United Kingdom appear in this zone by way of example.
People coming from a country classified in an orange zone will face two scenarios “If you are vaccinated, you are asked for a PCR test of less than 72 hours or a TAG (antigen) test of less than 48 hours and at that time, welcome to France“, explains Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne. “For unvaccinated people, we put in place the compelling reasons to come to France. That is to say, people who have very important reasons cannot access French soil ”, he says. Add to that, that these individuals will have to self-isolate for a period of seven days.
Red zone
In this area, unsurprisingly, we find countries such as Brazil, South Africa, India where the virus is actively circulating with variants classified as “worrying” by the WHO, like the B variant. 1.617 (Indian). Other countries are also on this list: Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Uruguay, Argentina, Bangladesh.
“There are no leisure trips” for these countries, underlines the Secretary of State. “It is an assumed choice, we need once again, health security, we need to avoid the importation of variants which could still put back all the efforts made for months for the French”, concludes Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne.
