After the 30 best-selling used petrol models, here is an overview of second-hand diesel vehicles. Still higher than those of gasoline (2.34 million units), sales of cars running on diesel represented more than 3.3 million registrations in 2021. However, this lead is shrinking since transactions fell by 5.52% compared to 2019, the last year without containment, due in particular to the development of ZFEs. The Renault Clio takes a double podium
Already headlining the petrol classification (172,620 copies), the Renault Clio is also the best seller among diesel vehicles. The one that stands out most particularly is its fourth generation, which topped the charts for new vehicles. In second-hand, its 1.5 dCi versions represented no less than 78,020 transactions in 2021. The third version of the diamond city car is placed in third position with 74,900 sales recorded. Sandwiched, the Peugeot 207 is on the second step of the podium, totaling 76,049 copies. In essence, she had arrived only eighteenth, recalling how much diesel had grown in importance in France in this category in the years 2000-2010, before collapsing after the Dieselgate affair.

Only three Germans and a Dacia
The French models are very popular in diesel. Indeed, the first seventeen places are occupied by tricolor vehicles! The seventh Volkswagen Golf of the name (18and) breaks the series and claims 33 202 changes of hand in 2021. It is one of the three Germans present in the ranking. We also find the Volkswagen Polo 5 with 26,713 recorded sales (23and), closely followed by the second-generation Audi A3 with 25,812 vehicles sold (24and). Dacia is the only other “foreign” brand to interfere in this top 30 with the Duster 1, 26and thanks to its 25,336 registrations. On the other hand, neither Japan, nor South Korea, nor Italy manage to place the slightest model here.
