Nice lubrication
You can use sunscreen to protect yourself against too much sun. But you have to put it in the right way. We tell you what to look out for.
It takes about half an hour for sunscreen to soak in and do its job. So apply it half an hour before you lie in the sun. Do not forget to continue to apply regularly afterwards. It is wise to reapply after swimming and exercising.
Apply cream
It is best to shake sunscreen before use. Make sure you use enough. You need about a handful to rub all over your body.
Any part of the body that is not covered by clothing should be rubbed. Don’t forget your ears, nose, shoulders and back. You can easily overlook the ‘protruding’ parts, but they do burn quickly.
A spray or roller makes it easier to apply the sunscreen and distribute it all over your body. Just watch out for your eyes. Sunscreen can sting your eyes. Rinse immediately with water if you get the cream in your eyes.
UV-A and UV-B
Choose a sunscreen that protects against both UV-A and UV-B with an SPF of at least 15. If you burn quickly, it is better to choose an protection factor of about 30. If you plan to swim or do sports (and sweat) a lot, choose a waterproof version.
If you mainly want to protect your face, choose a sunscreen that is specially made for that. For example, opt for a water-based sunscreen, so that your facial skin does not become so greasy.
Storage advice
The protection factor of sunscreen decreases over time. It is therefore not wise to use the cream after the expiration date.
Keep the cream in a dark and cool place when you are not using it. This prevents the protection factor from deteriorating even faster.
