For several days, the temperatures have been summery… But they should soon drop by several degrees. How to avoid getting sick with sudden changes? Explanations.
- To avoid contracting a seasonal disease, you must wash your hands regularly.
- Drinking herbal teas or tea helps eliminate toxins, which is good for the body.
Spring arrived on Sunday March 20 and with it, very summery temperatures and sunshine. But the climate is spoiling this week, with sometimes very brutal temperature drops. In Lille, the maximum will be 20 degrees this Monday, March 28 and only 9 degrees three days later. In Lyon, 23 degrees during the very sunny day of Monday, but rains and a temperature of 9 degrees maximum from Friday. Impressive falls all over France. So, in this context, how not to catch a cold?
Watch the weather and dress accordingly
The first tip for not catching cold when temperatures drop quickly is to watch the weather forecast before going out. Indeed, some quickly get used to mild temperatures and are surprised the day they drop. This is when they can catch cold. As a routine therefore: we consult the weather forecast every morning and adjust our outfit accordingly.
Eat and drink well
During seasonal changes, there is a proliferation of several families of viruses or bacteria. Our immune system is therefore put to the test. So, it needs to be taken care of. It starts with food. It is best to eat fruits and vegetables, preferably in season, and fish, which are rich in minerals that stimulate the immune system. “Seaweed (wakame, nori or dulse) is also very rich in minerals, to be tested in tartare for example”explains, to Madame FigaroAude Veret, naturopath.
On the other hand, sugar is to be avoided: “Eating too much sugar increases the production of white blood cells, which makes the immune system less able to fight off a viral attack”, she continues. Finally, do not forget to hydrate yourself well, that is to say at least 1.5 liters per day.
A good sleep pattern
To strengthen your immune system, you must also have a good sleep pattern. Ideally, you should go to bed early and always get up at the same time. “When we sleep, the body’s melatonin (sleep hormone) kicks in between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., and it’s what regenerates the immune system”emphasizes Aude Veret.
Play sports
Finally, last advice to take care of your immune system: practice physical activity regularly, that is to say two to three sports sessions per week. It is also recommended to walk 10,000 steps a day. To get there, try to walk to work if possible, or take the stairs instead of the elevator. These small gestures can help you better face this week.
