If the sauna is good for activating the circulation of the blood, it is not the same for the quality of the sperm. Researchers from the University of Padua in Italy analyzed the sperm of 10 healthy Finns in their thirties whose semen was of normal quality. The scientists imposed 2 weekly sessions of 15 minutes in the sauna to them in order to check the impact of the heat on their sperm. Result: the quantity of semen and the concentration of sperm were reduced after three months of frequent use of the sauna. But, good news for the guinea pigs, six months after stopping the sauna sessions, the quality of their sperm had returned to normal.
This study shows once again that an increase in temperature has a direct impact on the quality of sperm. This is why men are advised not to wear pants that are too tight or to leave their cell phones in a pocket near their testicles, as the heat released significantly reduces the quality of their sperm.
