A contemporary Mini Clubman station wagon has been transformed into a pickup by its owner in the United States. Cutting, joints, accessories, painting … the result of this craftsmanship is worthy of a production vehicle.
Car enthusiast, handyman and owner of a Ferrari F355 Spider, Instagram user referred to as imperf3kt is not only attracted to Italian sportswomen. This American named Timothy has just completed the transformation of a Mini Clubman into a pickup, and the result is particularly neat.
Mini pick-up, maxi work
Timothy modified a current generation Clubman. Doing the job himself, he cut up the roof, installed body reinforcements, learned how to weld to secure the bed to the body, and sealed everything. The glass behind the passenger compartment is from a first generation Volkswagen Caddy.
The car was then fitted with a high suspension, all-terrain tires, a bull bar and a roof rack accommodating an LED ramp and a spare wheel, to complete the city break a real machine for outdoor work. The car was then painted in the same metallic green as the Mazda MX-5 that Timothy owned in the past.
Timothy has richly documented the transformation of his Mini Clubman on his Instagram account. In particular, we can discover that, just two weeks ago, an encounter with a deer on a highway damaged the front-right part of the vehicle. However, the latter was able to start again and the damage seems repairable, which should not be a problem for the skilful owner of the pickup.
Official mini pick-ups have existed
The original Mini was officially available as a pick-up. Then in 2014, apprentices from BMW had converted a Paceman into such a variant but no serial marketing was on the agenda.
