In Canada, as in twenty American states, cannabis has been authorized for medical purposes since 1999. This use requires either a prescription or confirmation of a medical diagnosis and distribution is done in specialized dispensaries or in distributors installed in convalescent centers.
To draw the attention of the general public to the therapeutic benefits of cannabis, some marijuana producers have decided to launch a somewhat special competition. The winner of this competition will be offered one year of medical cannabis treatment.
One gram per day for 365 days
The spokesperson for the “Get Happy Canada” contest said: “Many Canadians suffer from pain-causing health problems but do not know what the benefits of medical marijuana are or how to access this type of program. ‘that’s why we launched this contest to help one lucky Canadian while raising awareness about Canada’s new program and how it can benefit patients. “
The winner will be required to provide a medical prescription to obtain their prize. This will cover the cost of treatment (up to one gram per day for 365 days).
Medicinal cannabis is authorized in around 20 countries. In Europe, the countries which grant its use on prescription are the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain. In France, the National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety (ANSM) has given marketing authorization (AMM) for medicines containing “cannabis and its derivatives”.
