The very expensive Tesla Model S Plaid has a horrible steering wheel, which fortunately can be replaced. But that will also cost you.
Teslas are generally seen as beautifully designed cars. But one thing about the new Tesla Model S Plaid is disgusting to some; the minimalist racing wheel that seems to have been pulled from the Intertoys collection of game wheels. Fortunately, a replacement is possible, but that’s up to you – just like the Tesla yourself – quite a bit of money.
A nicer Tesla steering wheel
The Tesla Model S Yoke Replacement from T Sportline is a aftermarket send for the most expensive Tesla of the moment, the Model S Plaid. The company takes inspiration from the original racing wheel, but makes it a full ‘circle’. After all, the original lacks a top. The whole costs at least more than €3000 euros excluding shipping costs.
That is quite a lot of money for an extra piece of handlebars. On the other hand, the car itself already costs more than €130,000, so a few percent extra doesn’t make a difference either. And besides, as Tesla experts know, it is not so easy to replace something of the car. For example, T Sportline needs your own steering wheel to transfer the airbag, for example. So you have to send in your own steering wheel (no pun intended) before the company can get started with the new steering wheel.
A small side note; if you have Tesla steering wheel heating, unfortunately that will no longer work with the new steering wheel. So you have to choose; or nice warm hands in the winter or a whole, round steering wheel.
