Real forgetfulness or indelicacy? According to a study carried out by the Regional Union of Health Professionals of Ile-de-France with 2,822 liberal doctors, patients of Ile-de-France have the annoying tendency to forget their medical appointments. Result, if we count this lost time, it is not less than 40 minutes of consultation that fly away every day.
Doctors have drawn up the profile of this absentee: he often comes for a first appointment (39), as a third-party payment (23%) or his appointment has been scheduled for more than fifteen days (22%).
On average, 7 out of 10 doctors who responded to this survey find that every day 1 or 2 appointments are not honored and 23% of them have more than 3.
This absenteeism does not affect all specialties: radiologists are the most affected (60% have more than three unfulfilled appointments per day), followed by dermatologists (49%) and ophthalmologists (40%).
All the departments of Ile-de-France are not housed in the same boat either: there is more absenteeism in Seine-Saint-Denis (42%) and Val-d’Oise (33%), and less in Paris (20%).
