A new tick-borne virus has been discovered in the United States. He is responsible for the death of a person.
A new tick-borne virus has been discovered in the United States. It has already caused the death of a 50-year-old man who was in good health, US health officials said on Friday.
Stung multiple times
The man was infected last spring in the state of Kansas. Since then, scientists have worked to identify this virus unknown to the battalion, which they named “Bourbon”, after the name of the county where the patient lived.

This virus is part of the family of thogotovirus, specify the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This is the first time that a virus in this group has killed a human being. and only the eighth known case of infection with a thogotovirus that causes symptoms in people.
In the days before his death, the man had been repeatedly bitten by ticks. Doctors who treated him in Kansas found a parasite swollen with blood attached to his shoulder.
Fever, breathing difficulties …
His state of health deteriorated rapidly. The first symptoms, which appeared a few days after the bites, included a headache with fever. Antibiotics have been shown to be ineffective. The patient could no longer breathe on his own and his kidney functions were seriously damaged. He died eleven days after the onset of symptoms.
As the results of numerous tests for a large number of infectious diseases were negative, a sample of the patient’s blood was sent to a CDC lab for further analysis. CDC researchers determined it to be a new virus, after using advanced molecular detection technology (AMD).
The tick is responsible around the world for another potentially dangerous condition called Lyme disease. This chronic infection results in the formation of erythemas (red plaques) which can affect all organs.
