The New York sarcophagus has been opened and Mariah Carey has been awakened from her summer slumber to show the world that there is only one thing she wants for Christmas. And that’s you. The search has been going on for more than 25 years, but she is determined. The fact that she collects almost half a million euros a year in royalties is of course secondary. The first time you hear a Christmas song on the car radio, it is often a pleasant surprise. But as with most things in life, there is a tipping point. It has now been investigated where that point lies. This is how often you can hear Christmas music on the car radio.
Speaker farmer Sonos conducted a study into Christmas music and tolerance among the Dutch. They came out at 111 numbers per year. That’s how often you can listen to Christmas music before you get tired of it. On average, we start playing Christmas music on December 2nd. That equates to an average of just under 5 Christmas songs per day. According to The Next Web a Christmas song lasts an average of 207 seconds. So on average we can listen to over 382 minutes of Christmas music on the car radio (or just at home) before our breaking point is reached.
The survey asked about favorite Christmas songs to decorate the tree with. Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea – the TopGear favorite for obvious reasons – is not in the top ten. wham! and Mariah Carey top the list. So: enjoy Sky Radio, but listen in moderation.
