An absolute master of an artist created a hybrid of a retro synthesizer, NES console and MIDI visualizer. The end result is genius.
Retro gamers who are also musicians take note, because here we have arguably the most epic gadget ever: the NES-SY37 by artist Love Hultén† The ode to the iconic Nintendo console combines some unprecedented cool retro functions in one machine. The end result would be worth tons of money, but that won’t be possible for the time being.
NES synthesizer
Love Hultén built from scratch a synthesizer as a tribute to the NES. The box controls the various sounds that come from the magical device. The keys of the actual keyboard are also made in the style of the gray NES from the 80s.
The screen on the box also has two specific functions. Primarily, it is a MIDI visualizer that converts the input from the keyboard into a 3D retrogame figure.
In addition, the synthesizer’s 800×600 LCD serves as a monitor for playing hard-hitting NES games. Yes, original NES cartridges just go into the musical instrument. Pop a joystick and you’ve got a hybrid that even Nintendo is jealous of. That is, if the company doesn’t get angry again about ‘copyright infringement’.
