The RNA vaccine from Moderna laboratories is coming to town this Thursday, May 27! Pharmacies and city doctors can now offer this anti-Covid vaccine, in addition to the AstraZeneka and Janssen vaccines.
Consequence: from this date Moderna will no longer be distributed in vaccination centers (except for people who have already scheduled their second injection).
For who ?All adults over 18 eligible for vaccination can benefit from it.
The government has already experimented with the use of this RNA vaccine in pharmacies in Moselle. The objective being to be able to offer this vaccine massively in June in pharmacies and doctors, at the same time when the vaccine target will be extended to the youngest populations (as of May 31 for all).
Furthermore, the vaccine Moderna will be tested in a few companies : Danone, RATP, Véolia, Saint Gobain, or even La Poste. At the end of this experimental phase, the Moderna vaccine could thus be offered to companies that so wish.
Still, the expected doses of Moderna vaccine remain lower than those of Pfizer. As of May 25, 47.9 million doses of the latter are expected for the month of June, against 6.7 million for Moderna, according to the Ministry of Health.
Why Moderna and not Pfizer?
VSUnlike the Pfizer vaccine which must be injected within five days of thawing, the Moderna can be used for a month. It can be stored between 2 ° C and 8 ° C. In addition, unlike its cousin Pfizer which must absolutely be stored at – 70 ° C, at Moderna, the doses can be stored at -20 ° C, thus eliminating the need to keep the vaccines in “super-freezers”.
How to get vaccinated in a pharmacy?
In practice, no prescription is requested for people authorized to be vaccinated. The only constraint is to make an appointment with your pharmacist or doctor beforehand. Contact your pharmacy to find out what the niches are and how to make an appointment.
In case of difficulty, via the national toll-free number (0 800 009 110) which allows you to be redirected to the switchboard of a center or to obtain support when making an appointment.
