According to the report of Sentinel network of the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm), more than more patients have consulted general practitioners in France in recent weeks for cases of acute diarrhea, symptoms of gastroenteritis .
Hauts-de-France (132 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) and Brittany (118 cases) have already exceeded the epidemic threshold set at 115 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The Grand Est is approaching it (111 cases). At the end of August, the regions of Normandy (257 cases) and Pays de la Loire (159 cases) had already been marked by a certain number of cases.
Still according to the Sentinel network, this epidemic should strengthen in the coming weeks and extend throughout the territory.
How to avoid gastro
If you live in one of these four regions, be intractable on hygiene. We cannot repeat it enough: to avoid catching the gastro virus, it is very important to wash your hands very regularly, especially after taking public transport, to avoid person-to-person contamination. Also be careful with alcohol (not easy when you enter the holiday season) because it decreases the power of white blood cells and therefore reduces your immune capacity.
Finally, remember to drink enough because good hydrationlimits the progression of infections.
Gastro: how to react
Diarrhea and vomiting lead to a loss of water, salt, sugar and potassium that must be compensated for. The faster we react, the better we can control the situation! Above all, do not force yourself to eat, but drink often and in small quantities: vegetable or salted poultry broths, sugary drinks or drinks made from rehydration sachets. And avoid drinking water alone, milk, tea, or alcohol, as they speed up transit and make diarrhea worse.
