Our organization can take advantage of benefits HE through all routes, respiratory, cutaneous, oral, rectal, vaginal. However, three stand out:
Respiratory: diffused in the air, the molecules of HEY enter the body through the nostrils and then enter the blood through the lungs. For optimal efficiency, it is necessary to use very volatile essential oils (such as those of pine, conifers, citrus fruits), which are easy to absorb by the airways. You can diffuse them in the air using an electric diffuser, inhale them by diluting them in simmering water, or even inhale their scent directly above the bottle.
Cutaneous: EOs have the ability to cross the layers of the skin to penetrate inside the body. They are recovered by the microcirculation and follow the blood flow to be distributed very quickly throughout the body. In a few minutes, traces of their molecules are found in the blood, urine… This is why they must be applied with caution. If, in some cases, they can be applied directly (in the crook of the elbow, wrists, soles of the feet, etc.), it is often easier to mix them with a vegetable oil or a neutral base, then use them in massage body or in the bath.
Oral: some HEY being potentially neurotoxic (EO from cedar, sage, caraway, etc.) or hepatotoxic (from thyme to thymol, oregano, tropical basil, etc.) if they are used at high doses or over a prolonged period , it is imperative not to improvise as a therapist during oral absorption. The dosage and the times of taking indicated by the doctor or the pharmacist must be respected to the letter in the context of a preventive or curative treatment, as well as for use in the kitchen. And they should never be swallowed pure, but diluted in 1 teaspoonful of cooking oil, mother tincture (in pharmacies) by adding a few drops of dispersant to make them miscible with water. You can also put 1 or 2 drops on sugar or bread crumbs.
2 to 3 hours: this is the time it takes between taking an essential oil orally and any other medication.
Which material for respiratory use?
The best choice is undoubtedly the electric diffuser since it is designed to ensure optimal nebulization (projection of a liquid in fine droplets) and the diffusion of essential oils. The aromatic molecules are not altered by untimely heating and retain all their olfactory qualities and therapeutic properties. And the electronic timer allows exact control of the duration of the broadcast. The ideal is to invest in a diffusion device by cold fogging of good power so that it can cover an area of 20 to 100 m2. And follow the manufacturer’s instructions…
Diffusers no continuous use!
Be careful, whether for antiseptic or simply relaxing use, the diffusion is never practiced continuously and remains reserved for adults. The recommended pace is as follows:
•15 to 20 minutes, two to three times a day, in a room for a relaxing aim.
• 5 to 10 minutes, every hour or two hours during an epidemic.
Quantity of HE for 24 hours of diffusion: from 10 to 30 drops depending on the type of diffuser.
