Some countries started their vaccination campaign very early while others have barely started to vaccinate their populations. Where are the different countries at?
In the world
China did not wait to obtain marketing authorization to inject its vaccine on a massive scale, justifying the urgency of the situation to carry out these medical acts. The vaccine candidate developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical group Sinopharm was administered. In November, Chinese authorities announced that more than a million residents had received the vaccine. In Russia, President Vladimir Putin authorized the administration of the locally created vaccine, renamed ” Sputnik V “. As of December 25, 150,000 people have received it. He also mentioned the creation of “pimmune sports », For those who are doubtful. However, the WHO is not completely convinced by this tool: “ The use of such certificates could […] increase the risk of further transmission “. Regarding the United States, a country in which the coronavirus has already killed more than 350,000 people, the government is placing all its hopes in its vaccination campaign, which must be massive and rapid. Two vaccines are authorized in the USA, that of Pfizer and that of Moderna. A first dose of one of these has already been administered to more than 4.2 million Americans. However, Donald Trump wants to immunize 100 million people before the end of the first quarter of 2021. As for Israel, it is the most advanced country in terms of vaccination. In fact, nearly 644,000 Israelis have received the serum, which represents more than 7% of their population. Israel is said to have bought its doses at a price 43% higher, with the aim of being supplied first.
In Europe
It was the United Kingdom, fresh out of the European Union, which started its vaccination before the others. After authorizing the vaccine from the Pfizer / BioNtech duo, more than 800,000 doses have been injected since the beginning of December. The British state recently approved the AstraZeneca vaccine and ordered 100 million doses of it, 4 of which will be available very soon. In Germany, the vaccination campaign started on December 27. More than 400 centers have been set up in different locations. However, there would be delivery delays as well as logistical problems in the country. Almost 190,000 injections have taken place in Germany. There are big differences in the anti-Covid vaccination campaign in Europe, while it has agreed to develop a common plan, in order to make vaccination accessible to all. In France, a few hundred people have been vaccinated in residences for the elderly, with the Pfizer / BioNtech vaccine. One of the reasons for this delay would be linked to the medical consultation so that the patient’s consent is informed. This step is necessary and mandatory before getting vaccinated against Covid-19 in France.
