Ginger
Incomparable for stimulating immune defences. In addition, ginger strengthens the liver, regulates digestion and would have aphrodisiac virtues.
How do we take it? As an infusion, one cup on an empty stomach in the morning. Peel and grate about 5 cm of fresh ginger for one cup of boiling water. Leave to infuse for ten minutes, filter and add a teaspoon of honey.
turmeric
It is an outstanding antioxidant, which slow down the decline cognitive functions (including, it seems, early Alzheimer’s disease). Also recommended against colon cancerand polyarthritis, it would be as effective as anti-inflammatories without the side effects.
How do we take it? Used as a spice, it is better assimilated if accompanied by pepper or fat. In the form of capsules (pharmacy) it is better to take it during the meal.
sea buckthorn
He holds records vitamin C (30 times more than orange) which boosts tone.
How do we take it? Its berries (personal picking or health food stores) are less acidic after freezing. A spoonful in a sweet yogurt. Also available in juice or syrup (pharmacies).
chokeberry
Its black fruits offer the best antioxidant power in the world: they contain three times more anthocyanins than blackcurrants or blueberries. Its action on bad cholesterol would equal that of drugs. It also protects cognitive functions.
How do we take it? A tablespoon of dried berries in natural yogurt for breakfast.
Rhodiola
For its adaptogenic action which helps fight against the harmful effects of stress and its anti-fatigue power, even greater than that of ginseng.
How do we take it? As a two-week cure to recover more quickly from a period of overwork or heavy fatigue. In capsules or tablets, according to the dosage indicated.
Sage
It is good for everything, especially against infections, for digestion and against hot flashes. “Who has sage in his garden does not need a doctor”, goes a saying.
How do we take it? In herbal tea at the end of the meal, if possible fresh picked from his garden (1 g of leaf for 200 ml of water).
Rosemary
For preserve cognitive functions and help the body fight infections.
How do we take it? Regularly add 1 or 2 drops of essential oil to a savory dish to flavor it or inhale it via an electric diffuser (organic stores). In Switzerland, it is broadcast on a trial basis in retirement homes. But never more than 10 minutes every 2 hours and no more than three weeks in a row.
