The clever Michał Gapiński had rebuilt his Tesla Model 3 infotainment system so that he still had Apple CarPlay running. He presents an update and it now works on all Tesla models and he has tweaked even more.
Hardware and software
What was that again. You do need some hardware. A Raspberry Pi with a WiFi access point. It also runs on Android 12. It’s nice that Apple Carplay runs via Android, but that aside. An interface runs on the Raspberry Pi that allows you to conjure up a mirror of Apple Carplay on the screen of your Tesla.
Netflix in your Tesla
The version that Michał got running in January in his Model 3 still had some points for improvement. At that time you could only operate your CarPlay with a mouse and the hack only worked on the Tesla Model 3. The update he now presents is suitable for all models of Tesla and its CarPlay version now also supports DRM video playback. That means an app like Netflix will work normally in your Tesla.
