The child is still not healed
Its parasitic worms usually infect cats and dogs, but humans can become an “accidental host” through contaminated soil. Hookworm eggs are found in beach sand via animal droppings. Usually these worms inhabit tropical regions.
Six weeks after infection, the teenager is still taking medication and is still recovering. Her mother is said to have contacted the Florida state health department to ask authorities to act to prevent further infections.
