Vision days are a good excuse to have your eyesight checked, free of charge, with a professional. It is indeed necessary to regularly check the health of your eyes.
Take care of your eyes during vision days
AsnaV, the national association for the improvement of sight, is taking advantage of World Sight Day to offer, over a period of ten days, free sight checks with 4,500 opticians throughout France. The goal ? Encourage the French to check their vision more regularly. This habit indeed allows an adapted and rapid care in the event of loss of vision.
Blurred vision, headaches, itchy eyes, sensitivity to glare, discomfort, spots … there are many signs that alert to eye dysfunction. Vision days can be used to report them to a professional. To find out which opticians are concerned by city, consult the list drawn up by AsnaV here.
Who is affected by these controls?
First of all, the elderly because “ the more we advance in age, the more the eye shows signs of fatigue of various importance. Some activities of daily living present difficulties that were previously ignored », Explains the association’s portal. A survey established by AsnaV reveals that, if 70% of French people check their eyesight every two years, which also means that 30% of them do not do these essential checks.
The most common diseases are cataract which affects 38% of people over 65, glaucoma (1.5 million people affected) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) that develops after 65 years of age. Regular visits make it possible to control, every year, the advance of certain ailments, to stop them or to envisage, in certain cases, a surgical operation.
