Podiatrist’s aid
Some complaints that arise while standing, walking or exercising can be treated with insoles. And we’re not just talking about foot pain. Back, hips, knees: podiatric soles offer a solution. You can have these tools measured by a podiatrist.
Podiatric insoles are corrective insoles. The soles are measured to, for example, deviate from position of the lower extremity (from foot to hip) and vertebral column correct, compensate for deviations in the foot or relieve certain parts. Some soles are flexible, others are hard. One only has to wear the soles for a few months, until the injury is over, for example. Another is condemned to the insoles for the rest of his life.
measure
To determine the correct therapy, the podiatrist an extensive investigation into the cause of the complaints. This often involves looking at the position of the feet, knees, hips (and back). Complaints often arise during or after walking, so the therapist also looks at the movements of the feet and legs. If the therapist decides that podiatric soles are necessary, an impression of the feet is made using a three-dimensional scan or a foam box. This not only concerns the length, width and pressure distribution of the feet, but also the individual foot height. A milling machine makes the final soles. No foot is the same, so no sole. Depending on the necessary corrections or compensations, thickenings are made in the soles.
Build up
When you get the insoles, it is unwise to wear them all day long. The feet and legs have to get used to the new position and wearing the podiatric soles. You can extend the wearing of the soles by an hour every day for two weeks. That’s how you enter them. Initially, the shoe can be a bit tighter, the corrections of the sole will be felt and muscles in the lower back can be felt feet and the lower leg get tired sooner. After two to three weeks, the feet should be used to it. If this is not the case, contact your podiatrist again immediately. Sports with soles can only build up after two weeks, when the feet are completely used to the soles.
Check
The podiatrist usually advises you to come back once a year for a check-up. In addition, it is necessary to contact the therapist if complaints return. This indicates that the soles need to be adjusted or renewed.
Maintenance
On average, the insoles last about two to three years. Of course, this is highly dependent on the number of kilometers you walk or exercise with it. Also how much you sweat and whether you maintain the soles properly affect the lifespan. You should remove the soles from the shoe every day to let them dry, but do not do this near the heating. Plastic soles can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. If the top layer comes off, photo glue or bison tix offer a solution. You should apply a colorless shoe cream once every two weeks to leather soles.
Shoes
In principle, you can use podiatric insoles in all your shoes wear, if the shoe provides enough space for it. Only with shoes with a heel higher than 5 centimeters and with pumps, wearing the soles makes no sense. When you buy new shoes, it is important to fit them with the sole. With many shoes you can remove the footbed from the shoe, this gives more space for the soles.
