At HEGP, it’s adhesion or ejection
At the HEGP, opened in 2001, “it is adhesion or ejection”, according to the testimonies of the practitioner’s colleagues. According to them, doctors who criticize management run the risk of being punished by resource restrictions (secretariat, office, etc.), job doublings, altercations and generally moral harassment. Punishments of which Jean-Louis Megnien paid until his fatal gesture.
Practicing at the HEGP since its opening, the married cardiologist and father of five children, was recognized in his field. But it’s a broken man who threw himself from the 7th floor of thehospital.
To shed light on the suicide of Doctor Jean-Louis Megnien, three procedures have been initiated and the family plans to file a complaint for moral harassment.
Suicide at the HEGP: three proceedings initiated
A police investigation was opened on December 17. In addition, the committee for the analysis of suicides was seized and must proceed in January with internal hearings to analyze the work environment and determine whether there are any elements who may have participated in the distress situation.
After this first assessment expected in mid-January, the Ministry of Health could seize, if it deems necessary, the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs (Igas) so that a more in-depth investigation is carried out within the hospital. . Indeed, it has means of investigation (access to documents …) superior to simple hearings.
