The needles terrify you and you panic at the thought of the slightest blood test? The end of your ordeal may be near. Google has just filed a patent for a process that allows blood to be drawn without using a needle. The principle: rather than puncturing a vein, the sample will be taken just under the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin.
Simpler tests for the chronically ill
However, this technique only allows a small quantity of blood to be collected and is therefore not suitable for all types of blood tests. However, this would suffice blood sugar tests daily for diabetics, or other regular analyzes to which some chronic patients are required. The small sampling device would then be connected to a connected watch for quick and easy results. But for the full balance sheets, the American giant does not (for the moment) offer an alternative to the needle.
The field of health, in particular connected health, is of growing interest to Google. The multinational has already teamed up with Sanofi laboratories to develop new tools against diabetes. She also wants to put online a medical encyclopedia service and even works on a bracelet capable of detecting the formation of cancerous cells.
