A third of the French experience “negative feelings” with regard to their stomach, according to an Ipsos barometer for Activia. Too soft, too big, not muscular enough … The belly is often a part of the body that we would like to change. Especially when it’s time to put on your two-piece swimsuit.
If you are not satisfied with your stomach, you are not satisfied with that of your partner either: 28% of French people would like their partner lose belly, notes the survey. Women, more concerned about their figure, are 33% to consider that their partner has a belly. The uncompromising paunch are found in numbers in people aged 55 to 64 years (37%).
Has the chocolate bar definitely eclipsed the charm of the teddy bear belly? Not entirely. 15% of fans admit to loving their partner’s little love handles and 19% appreciate the comfort of their partner’s stomach.
A sign that the belly is still associated with positive images, 44% of people questioned linked the belly to motherhood. 36% associate it with “eating well”. For only 18% of respondents, the belly is a symbol of sensuality.

This Ipsos Health-Activia Barometer “well in your stomach” was carried out online, between March 30 and April 3, with a sample of 1,000 individuals aged 16 to 64, representative of the French population.
