There is a first time for everything. Sex has never taken place in space, but that may change in the short term.
Humans have been in space for a long time. What man also does is have sex with each other. Why not combine those two things, NASA thought. The organization is going to conduct experiments with sex in space.
Never been sexed in space
It is claimed that no one has ever had sex in space. Certainly know we won’t, but the chances are indeed high. It has certainly never happened before that an astronaut in space became pregnant by another astronaut. NASA believes it’s important to find out how that works (not the sex by the way). This is important when astronauts are away from Earth for years in the future. NASA is considering launching a study to look at how sex works in space, not for the purpose of conceiving babies. Canadian scientists came up with this idea for space sexology and NASA is now considering conducting an investigation.
It is, of course, not entirely illogical. When you’re gone for years as an astronaut, you’re still looking for affection. And that is only possible with the other astronauts on board. The researchers want to understand how that works: psychologically, but also physically. Because in space there is of course little or no gravity. One of the reasons this hasn’t happened yet may be because there were never couples on board.
Focus
NASA says sex has never happened in space. This is because the focus is elsewhere. Namely the safety and health of the astronauts. But if they are gone for years in the future, the organization cannot avoid investigating this as well. Whether you can sign up for the research, that is unknown…
