Science confirms it: men appear more “sexy” in the eyes of women when they are endowed with a pet. A team of American researchers from different universities including that of Nevada (United States) conducted a survey to assess the place of the dog in terms of seduction. Of the panel of 1,210 participants, 61% of the respondents were women.
When asked about the attractiveness of a single man depending on whether he owns a dog or not, women said they were twice as attracted to men accompanied by this pet. They would also be particularly attentive to the relationship maintained by the master with his dog.
A criterion of choice
The interaction of the man with his dog sends a signal to the women on whom they will rely to consider a possible romantic relationship, underlines the study published in the review Anthrozoös. The male attention to the dog could be seen as a reflection of the love that a man can have for a woman. In other words, if the owner behaves gently and tenderly with his pet, there is a good chance that he will have the same loving behavior with his partner. For women, the human-animal relationship therefore appears to be a criterion for helping to project oneself with her future partner and to envisage a lasting relationship, specifies the survey.
Man’s best friend would therefore be a good weapon of seduction. A trick that men looking for a partner could use to add to their “sex appeal”.
