The figures are there and should wake up the French population. Indeed, according to the latest results of the Esteban survey conducted by Public Health France, in 10 years, the proportion of physically active women has dropped by 16%. As the press release recalls, “physical inactivity was identified in 2009 as the fourth risk factor for non-communicable diseases, implicated in more than 3 million preventable deaths”.
Women most affected
The study revealed that 22% of women accumulate a level of sedentary lifestyle high and at a low level of physical activity compared to 17% of men. Only 53% of women meet the World Health Organization’s recommendations for physical activity, compared to 70% of men.
To keep in shape and preserve your health, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends taking 10,000 steps a day. The benefits of physical activity are scientifically proven. To combat this assessment, Public Health France has implemented new digital, informative and incentive tools to encourage French people, and particularly French women, to have regular physical activity.
Public Health France has given a facelift to the “Move more” section of the site www.mangerbouger.fr. The goal is to help the French spend more time moving and less sitting. Internet users can concoct themselves thanks to 41 exercise sheets, an individualized program adapted to their taste and schedule.
