All the children who practice a sport within a club must provide, at the beginning of the year, a medical certificate attesting that they have no contraindication for the practice of their sport. This certificate was also compulsory for students who play sports within their school as part of the activities of the National Union of School Sport (UNSS). From now on, these students will no longer be obliged to provide this certificate. The health law, adopted last december, has in fact lifted this obligation.
For the national director of the UNSS, who spoke on France Info, this measure will facilitate access to sport for some children because the certificate “represented a cost for families, the price of a consultation”.
General practitioners refute the accusation of “chain-signed certificates” and regret the removal of this compulsory visit which allowed, as one of them pointed out on France Info, “to take stock with young people on their adaptation to the effort”.
