Collegial follow-up
A first basic phase, lasting one year, will devote the acquisition of generic skills common to all physicians. A second phase, lasting two to three years depending on the specialty, will allow the student to develop knowledge and skills more specific to the chosen specialty. This in-depth phase will end with the defense of the medical thesis.
Finally, a third phase, lasting one to two years, phase of consolidation of skills, will be carried out under the status of specialist assistant of the 3rd cycle and will end with the defense of the specialized study diploma.
The follow-up of the student will be carried out collegially and will take better account of his specific situation and his support. In the event of difficulties encountered during the training, a reorientation will be possible. A practicing doctor can now deepen his specialty or acquire a new one, in accordance with the law to modernize our health system, the statement said.

In fact, while establishments are contractually bound to ensure safety rest for interns after a call, in fact, some hospitals do not guarantee this rest. The Minister of Health intends to fight against this departure from the rule. “I made the duty roster compulsory and implemented sanctions for establishments in the event of non-compliance with your rights,” said Marisol Touraine.
