Insults, blows, threats, these are not the acts of a tyrant child, but those supposed by a surgeon at the Victor Provo hospital in Roubaix (North). According to testimonies, the doctor has terrorized the healthcare team but also the patients for a few months. Alerted, elected CGT officials and members of the CHSCT (Health, Safety and Working Conditions Committee) alerted management for “dangerous behavior”. Some hospital workers then ask for protection because they are afraid of meeting the surgeon.
Faced with these violent acts, the medical team implemented a rule: nurse anesthetists and block nurses can only work with this health professional one day a week. The goal: to reduce the stress of caregivers, which is at its maximum when they are forced to share the operating room with this surgeon.

But the insults continue, in particular bullying against women described as “null” and “incompetent”, and guilty remarks. Decision is taken to confine the doctor to consultations and to forbid him to perform surgery. Indeed, the organization estimated that the stress it generates endangers the safety of patients, especially as the man does not hesitate to attack them. In the OR, serenity has returned since he no longer exercises. The management of the hospital informed the Regional Health Agency which referred it to the Council of the Order of Physicians. A medical adviser has been appointed to meet with the implicated surgeon. He will report back in three months.
