From the first dose of vaccine against Covid-19, some patients no longer respect barrier gestures. However, these remain essential to limit the risk of infection and transmission of the virus.
- After a first injection, some patients no longer respect the barrier gestures: this is the syndrome of the vaccinated.
- The vaccine against Covid-19 limits the risk of developing a severe form but does not prevent being infected.
In France, 24,603,414 people have received at least one dose of vaccine against Covid-19, according to the Ministry of Solidarity and Health. Nevertheless, everyone must continue to apply barrier gestures, such as wearing a mask, social distancing, regular hand washing, etc. It must be remembered because, for several weeks, doctors have observed a relaxation of some of these patients. They call this phenomenon the syndrome of the vaccinated.
“The first antibodies only appear after 15 days”
At the Garches hospital, in Ile-de-France, infectious disease specialist Benjamin Davido explains to Figaro that more and more first-time vaccinators are hospitalized following a Covid-19 infection. “They see their first dose as a totem, while all the first antibodies only appear after two weeks and then gradually climb”, he explains. At the national level, there would be more and more people concerned: after a first injection, patients relax their efforts, respect barrier gestures less, are contaminated and, sometimes, hospitalized.
Even vaccinated, it is possible to be infected with Covid-19
It is only after having benefited from the two injections of the vaccine against Covid-19 that the risk of developing a serious form decreases, but it does not disappear completely! Even vaccinated, it is therefore quite possible to be infected by the virus and to transmit it. The vaccine strategy to get out of the Covid-19 epidemic will only work when a large part of the population has been vaccinated with two doses. Thus, the authorities hope to achieve herd immunity. To achieve this, the compliance with barrier gestures is essential because they reduce the viral load of the virus in circulation. Thus, over time, contacts with the virus, previous infections or even vaccination, the entire population will be immunized against the severe and deadly forms of Sars-CoV-2.
At the national level, impossible to relax the health rules…
In some departments, which have a low incidence rate of the virus, the obligation to wear a mask outside has been lifted. Another easing of restrictions: the High Council for Public Health considers that it is possible to remove the mask in the private setting for people who have been fully vaccinated. But, for the moment, it is impossible to relax the rules throughout the territory because the circulation of the virus is still too high and the viral load too high.
… Despite the health pass and the approaching holidays
From June 9, the health pass will be compulsory in France to go to places with more than 1,000 people. This will include either a vaccination certificate, or a negative PCR or antigen test, or a certificate of recovery from Covid-19. This summer, if the epidemic situation does not deteriorate, this document should also allow travel throughout Europe. But, even on vacation, we must not relax the barrier gestures. For the moment, only 11,375,315 French people have been fully vaccinated, for a total population of 67 million people.
