The term Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) includes a set of inflammatory joint diseases without recognized cause, beginning before the age of 16 and lasting more than 6 weeks. JIA leads to disabilities in 20 to 30% of cases. The level of disability depends on the number and level of joint damage and the evolutionary profile of the disease.
Polyarticular damage is the most disabling because of the painful rhythm that can interfere with sleep, morning fatigue that can compromise schooling, and frequent difficulty moving around alone and participating in group activities. The practice of sports activities in school is often very limited among these children.
To raise public awareness of this disease, the Arthritis Foundation is embarking on a national campaign.
Different towns in the Provinces and Ile-de-France will display this campaign in bus shelter format. A radio spot will also be broadcast from February 1st. The concept is based on a questioning of the public, in the form of a question, with a reference to the site www.pourquoilui.org. The answer will provide information on this little-known disease.
