Artcurial unveils some of the cars that will be auctioned on February 4 during the Retromobile 2022 show. From a Gordini driven by Fangio to a Bandini collection, including a Peugeot 908, sport will be in the spotlight.
After a forced break due to the pandemic, the Rétromobile show will be back in 2022. As usual, it will be accompanied by a large auction by the Artcurial house. With, among the many lots offered, several collections of vehicles from estates. The catalog will include in particular a long list of racing cars which knew how to illustrate themselves in their time.
A Gordini driven by Fangio at Le Mans
One of the stars of the sale is signed Amédée Gordini. This unique Type 18S coupe, bearing chassis number 020S, took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1950 with a certain Juan Manuel Fangio at his wheel, as well as his Argentinian compatriot José Froilan Gonzales. Built on a Simca base and powered by the only existing Gordini four-cylinder compressor, this Frenchwoman had to abandon the Le Mans event but was entered the following year in the Rome-Liège-Rome race. Carefully preserved since then, it is estimated between € 800,000 and € 1,600,000.
A glorious Peugeot 908 for sale
Another tricolor racing car, much more recent but of notable historical importance, will also be offered. This is the Peugeot 908 with which Sébastien Bourdais and Anthony Davidson won the 2011 6 Hours of Zhuhai, final race of the diesel engine prototype which bowed out with a double that day. The car was acquired by its current owner in 2017 after a complete overhaul at Peugeot Sport. It is estimated between 2.2 and 2.8 million euros. Remember that the Lion brand will soon be back in endurance racing, and in particular at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the 9X8.

Nine Bandini reunited for a sale
Mainly active on the circuits in the 1950s, the small Italian manufacturer Bandini did not cease its activities until 1992 with the death of its founder, Ilario Bandini. His nephew, Dino Bandini, will put nine racing cars up for sale designed, manufactured and sometimes driven by Ilario.
In a completely different register, 19 cars from the collection that belonged to the driver Baudoin Lempereur will also be on sale. With several rally Fords on the program including a Cortina Lotus, an RS200 and a Sierra RS Cosworth, the details of the lots and the estimates have not yet been published.

Bugattis and a forgotten Hispano-Suiza
The Artcurial sale will also see the departure of four Bugattis and two particularly rare Alfa Romeos from the Bruno Lafourcade collection.
- Bugatti Type 35C
- Bugatti Type 44 Faux Cabriolet Labourdette
- Bugatti Type 13
- Bugatti Type 37 Small Coupé (rebuild)
- Alfa Romeo SZ Coda Tonda
- Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce Allegrita
Finally, no good auction without its exit from the barn. This time, a 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6B, stored for decades and discovered last spring during Artcurial’s Tour de France, will see the light again in an attempt to find a new buyer. The car is stripped of its bodywork, but has been carefully stored on chocks, sheltered and protected against rust. It is estimated between 80,000 and 140,000 €. The Retromobile show will be held at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center in Paris from February 2 to 6, 2022. The Artcurial sale will take place on February 4.
