Compared to last year, Android users are much less willing to switch to the iPhone 13, according to research.
By far the largest part of the androidusers won’t be tempted to buy another iPhone. From a study by SellCell among more than 5000 Americans, it appears that no one is waiting for an upgrade to an iPhone 13. In fact, compared to last year, the number of potential switchers has almost halved.
Android users don’t need an iPhone 13
About 81.7% of all respondents will not switch from Android to iPhone 13. That in itself is not very surprising; users usually stick to their own ecosystem. But the same medium did the same research last year. At that time, that percentage was only 67%. Last year, 33% wanted to switch to an iPhone 12, while that is only 18.3% this year.
Strikingly enough, the reasons for not switching are quite unequivocal. Nearly a third of respondents say the lack of a fingerprint scanner is the main reason for not switching. Also the limitations of iOS, mediocre hardware and the recent iCloud photo scan scandal are mentioned.
To look at the same issue from a different angle. More than half of all Android users who do want to switch to an iPhone 13 cite the longer software support as the main reason. In addition, the better ecosystem and the emphasis on privacy would also play a role.
Ultimately, the research should be taken with a grain of salt. First of all, because 5000 respondents is relatively limited. In addition, it is not yet guaranteed that switchers from Android to iOS (whether or not an iPhone 13) would not necessarily do so. Usually a survey is one thing, but actually complying with the answer is quite another! Anyway, it shows an interesting trend, as considerably fewer people seem to want to switch.
