A specific health protocol accompanies the reopening of restaurants and sports halls to monitor the circulation of the virus and break the chains of transmission. Vaccination should not prevent isolation if you are informed that you are a contact case.
- Restaurants and sports halls must set up a system for recording customer visits using a paper or digital reminder book.
- If one person who attends the same establishment is positive, I must test, and if three are, I must test and self-isolate.
- Even if I am vaccinated, I must respect the isolation.
Since this Wednesday, June 9, a new stage of deconfinement has been crossed. While the terraces of bars, cafes and restaurants, but also sports halls, can now accommodate at full capacity, the interiors are once again open to customers, respecting a 50% gauge. In parallel with these reopenings, which are accompanied by a curfew postponed to 11 p.m., the virus continues to circulate and a specific health protocol has been put in place.
Contact tracing continues
In restaurants or sports halls, a device for recording customer visits using a paper or digital reminder book is provided. This should make it possible to alert customers if they have been in close contact with one or more people who tested positive for Covid-19. The objective of this protocol is to allow the virus to be traced and to break the chains of transmission.
What should I do if an establishment contacts me and tells me that I ate next to a person who tested positive? “If only one person who attended the establishment tests positive, all other people who attended that establishment will be informed that they have been exposed to the virus and will be invited to be tested”, replied the Directorate General of Health (DGS) to Yahoo News. In addition, if it turns out that three people were positive at the same time, then all the others will be considered as contact cases “and will be invited to isolate themselves and be tested”, adds the DGS.

Health insurance, in charge of monitoring the circulation of the virus
In practice, establishments have two options for notifying customers of the presence of positive cases. Either use a digital reminder book, with the QR code, and customers will receive a notification via the TousAntiCovid application. The alert will be orange only one person is positive and red if at least 3 customers have the virus. The other option is that it uses a handwritten register, in which case it is the manager who will be responsible for communicating the information to the Health Insurance who will then contact the people to tell them the steps to follow.
Even vaccinated, I have to respect the isolation
What behavior should I adopt if I am contacted but am vaccinated? The first objective of vaccines is to prevent serious forms of infection and therefore, a fortiori, deaths. However, these do not prevent 100% contamination. This is why, even vaccinated, people must respect the isolation period if they are in contact. Jean Castex, who nevertheless received his first dose of AstraZeneca on March 19, is currently in isolation after being declared a contact case of his wife. If the Prime Minister had received his two doses, the logic would have been the same and the period of isolation must still be respected.
The General Directorate of Health (DGS) justifies this decision by the lack of information and a precautionary principle. “In the absence of consolidated data and therefore of ‘zero risk’, it is imperative to continue, at this stage and as a precautionary measure, contact tracing (and therefore the isolation of contact cases)“, she said to LCI.
