Renault opens pre-reservations for the Mégane E-Tech Electric. Three finishes and three versions are offered for the launch of the “zero emission” compact. This can already be configured online but will not arrive in dealerships until March 2022.
Just presented for the opening of the Munich Motor Show, the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric can already be preordered. Better still, the diamond manufacturer has just put online a configurator dedicated to its 100% electric compact sedan that looks like an SUV. The electric Mégane is available in three finishes. Renault allows you to choose between three powertrain configurations out of the four announced, namely:
- EV40 130 hp standard charge (40 kWh battery, 7 kW AC recharge)
- EV60 220 hp super charge (battery 60 kWh, recharge 7 kW AC or 130 kW DC)
- EV60 220 hp optimum charge (60 kWh battery, 22 kW AC or 130 kW DC recharge).
An EV40 variant accepting 22 kW of charging on alternating current will be proposed later. The EV60 version of 220 hp and 300 Nm of torque has a top speed limited to 160 km / h, or 10 km / h more than the EV40, which also offers a torque of 250 Nm. 300 km WLTP for the EV40 and 450 km for the EV60

Balance finish: neither gap nor superfluous
Under the direction of Luca de Meo (ex-Seat) since 2020, Renault is starting to move upmarket similar to that followed by Peugeot in recent years. The electric Mégane is the first entirely new model developed with this objective in mind. Its basic finish at launch, called Equilibre, therefore plays the card of a flattering appearance and relatively complete equipment, even if the air conditioning is only automatic as an option and the GPS is absent. It includes in particular:
- manual air conditioning
- reversing camera
- reversing radar
- 12 inch digital dashboard
- 9 inch central touchscreen
- LED spotlights
- LED fog lights
- cruise control / speed limiter
- sign recognition
- lane keeping aid
- fatigue detector
- 2 front USB ports
- 18 inch aluminum rims.
A Techno finish that lives up to its name
The intermediate model is called Techno. Its endowment includes in addition:
- automatic air conditioning
- 12 inch central touch screen
- navigation system and Google services
- automatic lights and wipers
- directional lights
- rear led strip
- induction charger
- heated front seats
- heated leather-wrapped steering wheel
- 2 rear USB ports
- electrically folding mirrors
- dashboard partially covered with Alcantara
- biton body
- 20 inch alloy rims.
Gold at the top of the range
Finally, the Mégane E-Tech Electric range is capped by its Iconic version, which stands out thanks to the following elements:
- golden shield blades
- shark antenna
- leather upholstery
- electric and massage front seats
- imitation leather dashboard with wood inserts
- Harman Kardon sound system
- dark tinted rear windows
- front and side parking aids.
Packs for complete equipment
the online configurator offers six body colors to choose from: one white, one black, two gray, one red and one dark blue. The possibility of opting or not for a contrasting roof in Techno finish multiplies the number of configurations. Not all are available for all versions. The same goes for rims, with each wheel design corresponding to a finish. The leather upholstery of the Iconic model can be black or light gray. Optional packs are offered. The most comprehensive is called “augmented vision & advanced driving assist” and includes among others:
- adaptive cruise control
- 360 ° cameras
- autonomous parking
- indoor retro-camera.
The electric Mégane on the roads in March 2022
Once the configuration is complete, it is possible to pre-order your electric Mégane by providing a bank imprint of 500 €, an amount that is not debited (except immediate debit cards and other exceptions). The reservation can be canceled by phone. Confirmation of the reservation, and therefore the ordering of the vehicle, will be made in January 2022. It is at this time that the prices for the range will be known. According to our estimates, these should start around € 34,000. The first deliveries are scheduled for March 2022.
