According to a study conducted by American researchers among 82,000 women aged 27 to 44, and published by the journal Archives of Dermatology, the risk of psoriasis is higher in women who consume an average of 5 beers per week (at the except light beers).
Regular beer consumption would even double the risk of developing the disease compared to women who do not drink it; however, consuming light beer or other types of alcohol, such as wine, would have no effect on the development of the disease.
According to researchers, the development of psoriasis is caused by various factors, but could be triggered more particularly by barley, the cereal used for the fermentation of beer, which contains gluten.
