If you want to buy a PS5, it’s not that simple. And if you can buy it, it often comes in an expensive bundle. To counter scalpers.
Buying a Playstation used to be simple. To the electronics store with your hard-earned and saved money, take it off the shelf, to the checkout and enjoy. How different it is now!
The PS5 is hard to get. There is little stock and if there is, it also flies out of the (digital) store. You are so wrong. And don’t miss out, it is often an expensive bundle.
PS5 scalpers
Such a bundle comes with an even heftier price tag, of course. Because in addition to the console, you get extra controllers or extra games, for example. Well, get it… You just have to tap it. The question is whether you need or want all of that.
One of the reasons that the retailer likes to provide you with such an expensive bundle is, in addition to its own income, that the PS5 is less interesting for scalpers in this way. They buy available individual consoles and then resell them for big money.
A good revenue model, but it does ruin the market. Those expensive bundles make that less attractive because the extra stuff is worth less. Only extra profit on the console then makes the whole deal less attractive to the scalper.
Only bundles?
No, you can order individual consoles online. But there too the stock runs out very quickly. So either being lucky with your timing, being on a waiting list or participating in the lottery. Or pay more, because web stores that sell separate PS5 consoles are also happy to do a little extra on top of the suggested retail price.
