The brand signs a racer for the new GT 7, which will be released in March
Games were not always taken very seriously. Times have now changed. The deal with EA has ended and other games are allowed to use Porsches again. For example, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS was even unveiled at the game Forza Motorsport. Since 2017 there are Porsches in it Gran Turismo and this Porsche Vision GT is even the brand’s first car designed explicitly for a game. “I don’t think anyone was fired because of that choice at the time,” said Deniz Keskin, the man who handles these kinds of partnerships at Porsche.
Porsche Vision GT is only built digitally
The Porsche Vision GT is a fully electric racer that you can only drive in Gran Turismo can drive. It is not difficult to discover elements of the Porsche 356 and 550 in it. “The Germans are serious company and we take car design very seriously. So we decided to do something that feels real and something you can imagine being on the road in a few years’ time,” says exterior designer Ingo Bauer-Scheinhütte. It is designed to look like a mid-engined car, suggesting perfect weight distribution.
The new GT coming in march
There are no annoying things like type approvals to deal with, so the designers could do whatever they wanted. For example, there are no doors, but Porsche opted for a cockpit dome that tilts forward, just like a jet fighter. The headlamps are low to the ground and they are part of the aerodynamic package. According to Porsche, none of these elements will appear on a production car any time soon, unfortunately. From March 2022 you can get into the Porsche Vision GT. Then comes Gran Turismo 7 to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The car will therefore not come to the existing GT Sport.
