According to a study conducted by a team of researchers from the Naval Medical Center in San Diego (United States) and presented in Boston at the congress of the American Urological Association, pornography could interfere with an erection.
A link established between porn and erectile dysfunction
This is not the first time that pornography has been accused of harming sexuality. According to a study conducted by American researchers, some erectile dysfunction could be the consequence of excessive consumption of pornography. To achieve these results, the researchers asked nearly 300 men, aged 20 to 40, to answer a questionnaire about their sexual preferences or their consumption of pornography.
They were able to observe that there was indeed a link between consumption of X movies and erectile dysfunction: nearly a third (27%) of men had an erectile dysfunction. This rate rose to 31% among men who had sex while watching porn movies and 79% among those who masturbated to porn. Only 22% of those who didn’t watch porn suffered from erectile dysfunction.
Reduce porn to cure sexual disorders
Still according to these works, 81% of men have watched pornography at least once. This question therefore concerns many people. For the authors of this work, these results should allow physicians to have new keys to understanding to support patients who suffer from these erectile dysfunction. Starting by quitting porn consumption could be the first step.
But how to explain these troubles? According to the researchers, in front of a porn movie, the production of dopamine, the pleasure hormone, is stimulated more than during sexual intercourse. X movies allow greater excitement, that men do not always manage to reunite with their partner. Reducing the consumption of pornographic images would therefore make it possible to suffer less from sexual disorders.
