Recently, influencers have been contacted by a communication agency. The latter allegedly offered them money to circulate information harmful to the reputation of the Pfizer / BioNtech vaccine.
Criticizing the Pfizer vaccine
An influencer is a person who uses the internet and in particular social networks, to give his opinion. It is capable of influencing Internet users, even of changing their consumption patterns. Several influencers have reportedly been contacted by a communications agency with the aim of disseminating messages of criticism of the Pfizer / BioNtech vaccine for remuneration. In total, these influencers represent more than a million and a half subscribers. The scope of the messages could therefore have been very extensive, if they had not behaved ethically. Thanks to their attitude, the smear campaign was foiled, at least by these three personalities (Sami Ouladitto, Et ça se dit Médecin and Léo Grasset), who mentioned the same scenario on their Twitter account.
A “lousy” proposition
Asked about this this Tuesday, May 25, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, also deplored this attempt at corruption. He expressed his dissatisfaction and his irritation at this controversy “ It’s lousy, it’s dangerous, it’s irresponsible and it doesn’t work “, He denounced. He added that “ The French are largely in the desire for the vaccine today and I do not believe that any inclination […] aiming to try to make negative communication are likely to divert the French from vaccination “. He also clarified that he did not know who was behind the relevant communications agency, which is located in the UK but is not on the UK companies register. When the Minister of Health was asked about the origin of the proposals, he replied: “ I don’t know where it comes from, I don’t know if it comes from France or from abroad “.
